Directions
When the weather shifts from the heat of summer to the coolness of fall and winter my kitchen shifts from salads and outdoor cooking to making stews and chili. In my mind those are the perfect comfort foods that warm you from the inside out. This recipe for chili is easy and yummy. I can put everything needed into the slow cooker before I go to work, or if it’s been a colder day and I know Bob will need some extra warming up when he gets home, I can put it together in a few short hours.
You can make this recipe mild, medium or hot by adding the type of salsa you like and adding some extra peppers. If you don’t have any salsa laying around, instead of leaving the house (and potentially getting cold again) to buy salsa you can use my recipe for restaurant quality salsa which will give the chili the perfect amount of zing.
This recipe is also fantastic for potlucks at work. I’ve been taking this in at least once a year for 10 years and every time it goes in the people that eat it give it rave reviews. A month ago I took it in when we had a Tailgating potluck. My team wanted to have hotdogs, so I brought the chili. We used it for chili dogs, nacho’s and just regular bowls of chili (with or without cheese/crackers). I have a large crock pot at work that I used what I call a ‘crock pot condom‘
This is super easy and super tasty!
