Directions
I love a good Sunday breakfast. It brings back memories from my youth when my family would sit down at the table for breakfast on Sundays with something homemade, straight out of moms kitchen. As an adult I have followed that tradition. Sometimes breakfast is complicated and some days when I’m feeling lazy I will make something easy, but still fantastic. That’s how I came up with the best sausage gravy I’ve ever had (sorry Curtis). Now that we’re in the fabulous fall season (thank goodness) it seems like the perfect time to start sharing some of my favorite comfort foods. This ranks right up at the top.
It only requires three ingredients plus pre-made biscuits that I usually find somewhere around the butter in the grocery store. We could call me a cheat because one of the ingredients is for ‘sausage gravy’, but I switched it up! Its better than the directions on the back of the package by a lot. It’s filling. On some weeks you can make the whole breakfast for about $10 USD depending on what you were able to buy that’s on sale.
I’ve taken this to work for a potluck or two. It’s very popular, generally one of the first things to disappear. People agree, it’s the best sausage gravy they’ve ever had. Over the years a few people have asked for the recipe; I swore I’d never tell. I’ve kept it a secret that I cheat in the kitchen, that sometimes easy is better. Today the cat is being let out of the bag!
I hope you enjoy this breakfast treat as much as we do.
